How to kit breakdown for serial tracked item

KB485

Overview

Kit breakdowns don’t directly support serial tracked components. Within Accentis Enterprise, the easiest way to do this is to first force the item to become untracked by moving them to a non-tracked Warehouse, performing the kit breakdown, then moving the components back to the original warehouse.

Creating a non-tracked warehouse

If a non-tracked warehouse doesn’t already exist or is not able to be used for this purpose, one can be created.

  1. Navigate to Inventory > Setup and select Warehouses…

  1. Select New and set the Default tracking type to None.
  2. Enter a code into the Code field and fill in any other desired information.
    1. To keep the process simple, it is recommended to set the Code and Name fields to something recognisable. In this example, we’ve used KITBREAKDOWN.

  1. Highlight the newly created warehouse, navigate to Special, and select Add items to warehouse.
  2. Select the kit item and any components.
    1. Ensure that all the components for any select kit items have also been added to the non-tracked warehouse, otherwise it won’t be possible to set it as the Component warehouse for the kit breakdown.

Transferring stock of the kit item to the non-tracked warehouse

To perform the kit breakdown, the non-tracked warehouse must first have stock of the kit item.

  1. Navigate to Inventory > Stock Transfer… and select New.
  2. In the Stock transfer form, enter the current warehouse into the From warehouse field, and the non-tracked warehouse into the To warehouse field.
  3. Enter the kit item into the Item code field and the quantity you are intending to breakdown in the Quantity field.
  4. Select Update to complete the transfer.

Performing the Kit breakdown

  1. From the main toolbar, navigate to Manufacturing > Kit breakdown... and select New.
  2. In the Kit breakdown form, enter the kit item into the Kit code field and the quantity that you are breaking down into the Quantity field.
    1. By default, the components that are created will be based on the current (newest) version in the Kit version history. Use the Select version button to change the kit version if required.
  3. Enter the non-tracked warehouse into the Kit stocking warehouse and Component warehouse fields.
  4. Select Update to perform the breakdown.

Transferring stock of the components back to the original warehouse

  1. From the main toolbar, navigate back to Inventory > Stock Transfer... and select New.
  2. In the Stock transfer form, enter the non-tracked warehouse in the From warehouse field and the original warehouse in the To warehouse field.
  3. Add the component items into the Item code fields.
    1. You can do this easily from the Add items button by setting the non-tracked warehouse in the Warehouse filter and selecting all items that have a Qty stock more than zero (as this is a temporary holding warehouse, the only items that should be in stock are the ones from the kit breakdown).
  4. Enter the relevant batch or serial numbers of each component into the corresponding Serial # field.
    1. If multiple batch or serial numbers apply to a single item code, then you will have to add a separate line for each additional tracking number.
  5. Select Update to complete the transfer.
